This past week we were delighted to receive the Create. pointe shoes which are to be auctioned at this years Advertiser Gala Luncheon in support of the Australian Ballet. Here is just a sneak peak on some of the awarded designers who have been involved in the Create. project for 2016 and a little about their own pointe shoe creations to be unveiled.
Cinquante The Label | “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
Adelaide contemporary jewelry designer Jane Edwardson is the delightful mastermind behind Cinquante. The name Cinquante means ‘50,’ in both French & Italian, & refers to the number of pieces which will eventually be in each limited edition collection.
Each of Jane’s pieces are handcrafted with the highest attention to detail, ensuring a unique & timeless quality. Drawing inspiration from architecture & in particular interior design, Jane personally selects all her metals & materials.
Jane’s Create. pointe shoe is titled “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with Shakespeare’s whimsical work inspiring her dark but mischievously colourful design. Solid opals & triplets from Coober Pedy – generously donated by Australian Opal Mining – mimic the moonlight over the forest while Swarovski crystals and pearls form many a magical flower. Cupid’s wings then hang patiently in the shadows of the nights-sky.
“Love looks not with eyes, but with the mind, & therefore is winged Cupid painted blind” ~ William Shakespeare
Viktoria Novak | “The Eternal Highness”
Viktoria Novak is a creator of exquisite couture millenary for bridal, red carpet & race wear. Her creative genius evokes feelings of luxury, opulence & Parisian-chic in ready-to-wear & custom fashion accessories.
Viktoria brings this same detailed diligence to her designer pointe shoe titled “The Eternal Highness”. The shoe has been hand made using the finest lace, velvet and embellishments, taking you on a journey of opulence & sovereignty. “The Eternal Highness” symbolises timeless elegance whilst reinventing a traditional & classic style for the modern day ballet dancer. This shoe represents Viktoria’s current Millinery Collection “The Evocative Prequel” & features her signature gold brass leaves with a touch of royalty.
The shoe consists of a strategically placed rich red velvet underlay, layers of gold embroidered lace & sequins, finished with Viktoria’s signature gold brass crown of leaves throughout & a sprinkle of individually hand sewn pearls.
Viktoria’s designs are favoured by celebrities including Jennifer Hawkins, Jesinta Campbell, Sonia Kruger, Kate Waterhouse, Rachael Finch, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Samantha Armytage & Jodi Gordon.
Aje. | “Benedicte”
Aje. is all about effortless Australian style with elevated everyday essentials & statement occasion pieces. A label synonymous with glamour, tough femininity & disheveled elegance, the Aje. fan base includes a host of local & international celebrities including Madonna, Kate Moss, Danni Minogue, Delta Goodrem, Rachel Zoe & Sarah Murdoch.
Designer duo Edwina Robinson & Adrian Norris are the creative halves of the label, with their obsession for luxurious fabrics & sparkling embellishments dictating the brand’s signature style.
Their Create. pointe shoe titled “Benedicte” is in honour of this years Telstra Ballet Dancer of the Year Award Winner Benedicte Bemet. Benedicte Bemet embodies everything that inspires Aje. “beauty, hard work, a focused mind & fearless spirit.”
Aje.’s shoe “Benedicte” has been created to reflect the effortless elegance of a ballet dancer & the irony of what lies in this. The costume jewels represent the hard work and determination, and the ethereal translucent nature of the silk organza symbolises all we get to see – the grace & beauty of a ballerina on stage.
Anna Vlach | “Prince”
Anna is the Adelaide Advertiser’s authority on fashion & beauty. As a lover of sustainable shopping and all things Chanel & YSL, Anna is an avid supporter of local designers & the Create. project.
Anna brings her unique perspective on both ballet & fashion to her gorgeous Create. pointe shoe titled “Prince”.
“Prince” is a tribute to the late singer, with the bejeweled drops representing “Purple Rain” & the tears his fans have shed since his passing.
ParlourX | “Our ParlourX Tribute to Saint Laurent. Amen”
